Patrick Miller Biography Patrick Miller is a native of Sonoma County, California. He was raised in Sebastopol and graduated University of California, Davis, with a Bachelors degree in Animal Science. After college, Pat started working at the Bodega Marine Lab and then took a water quality testing job in Santa Rosa; which reinforced his concern for the environment. His affinity for problem solving and understanding instrumentation soon landed him a high tech job in the evolving field of computer graphic animation. Over the next 16 years at Motion Analysis Corporation, Pat moved from Marketing Technician to Senior Vice President of Application Engineering. His projects included working with computer aided design, and capturing and placing human motion into video games and movie special effects. Some of the movies he worked on include The Matrix, Final Fantasy and Shrek. Pat began to recognize the artistic virtues, versatility and architectural applicability of concrete in 1995, as he began designing his first home in Occidental. During the construction process, he spent months collaborating with his father, C. Eugene Miller, a retired structural civil engineer who taught him the basics of sound concrete manufacturing principles. Together, they created a proprietary, ultra-dense concrete formula and reinforcing technique which they applied to Pat’s designs. Pat created and installed concrete countertops and sinks in his kitchen and bathroom, a large fireplace hearth in his living room, and several tables. For years, Pat’s home served as his business showroom. In 2001, his growing passion and enthusiasm for creating concrete products combined with his desire to live and work in West Sonoma County prompted Pat to leave his high tech job and launch Bohemian Stoneworks in Occidental, California. Pat’s strikingly unique tables, bathroom and kitchen countertops, fireplace hearths, and other works can be found in homes and businesses throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. |
