Carla Sarvis
Sarvis Glass

A native San Franciscan, Carla Sarvis has been involved in the creative process her entire life. With a strong professional background in the performing arts, Carla’s exploration into glasswork was a natural extension of her artistic voice. Studies in mosaics and fused glass sparked an anchoring point for her expression and when she relocated to West Sonoma County in 2005, the transition to rural life and thriving arts community supported this endeavor.

Carla’s distinctive art work embodies bold abstract landscapes and detailed pathways of cut glass, where compositions combine translucent saturated colors with mosaic imagery. She creates kilnformed free-standing art work, as well as fused and slumped functional forms. Each piece is unique and labor intensive (there can be over 100 pieces of hand-cut glass) and presents a strong artistic vocabulary to the viewer. She uses Bullseye Glass, a leader in quality production of colored glass, and collaborates with other artisans in the county.
